What a Gift!

My precious friend, Ivey, has been telling me since Brooks's first birthday that she has a special gift for him! Well, she gave it to us last week and let's just say it was well worth the wait!! She and Doug had Mark Richt sign a mini UGA helmet for Brooks!! What an awesome gift!!

Proudly displayed on his changing hutch...

More pics of Brooks's room...

What Kay Kay's Do Best....

Brooks and Kay Kay made cookies while I was getting dinner ready the other night. I insisted that Brooks not eat any junk so that he would eat a good supper. Well...you can see how that went!

Surprise from Rae Rae...

Brooks's Rae Rae got him a wonderful surprise from the consignment sale in town...a Thomas the Train tent!!! Daddy showed him how to hook his Thomas tunnel to it and he absolutely loves it!!

Visit to Dr. Garrard...

In the waiting room...

Notice his book! He is totally addicted to Thomas the Train and Cars!
Brooks had his 20 month well-check visit with Dr. Garrard last week. Unfortunately, he has finally figured out what goes down at the doctor's office. As soon as the nurse opened the door and called his name (Well, actually she said Ryan! She never calls him by the right name! Ughh!), he hid behind my legs and balled. Melt my heart! He knew she was going to stick him with that needle! As soon as Dr. Garrard came in, he calmed down. We really have a wonderful pediatrician and Brooks adores him! He immediately began showing him his Lightning McQueen and Mater toys. Then, Dr. Garrard let Brooks tell him all about his book. "McQueen....jump....crash....kachow....uh oh....go fast!" He said he's never seen someone his age that could "read" like that! I was very proud! My bubble was burst rather quickly though. Next, he asked what animal sounds he knew. Let's just say we're working on that now! All in all, it was a successful visit. Brooks is 33.5 inches and 25.8 pounds, which puts him above average for his height and average for his weight.

Go Dawgs!!

Chuck E Cheese after the game...

Not watching the game...this smile is for the airplanes!

My little eco-friendly guy insisted on throwing his own trash away!

RIP Uga!

Of course I had to take pictures before everyone got hot and sweaty!

Deleriously excited! Running around the car like a nut!
Passed out before the fun starts! Wonder where he gets that from?!
Looking for Kay Kay (my mom)! When we got to the stadium he started calling for his Kay Kay. The only thing we can think of is that she went with us to Picture Day a few weeks ago so he associated the stadium with her being there. She loved that story!

Ryan and I took Brooks to his first UGA game of the season Saturday. He loved to dance when the band played and got so excited when the players ran on the field. Last year, he didn't really do much other than take in all the people, but this year he had a blast! He would yell or clap when everybody else did and kept saying "Go Doss...go doss!" Love it! Ryan and I were talking about how we can't believe this is the same creature that was doing flips in my belly almost 2 years ago. For anyone who doesn't know that story...I only managed a few games when I was pregnant because of my asthma and the heat. We had one night game that year and it was cool enough for me to actually stay for the whole game. When we ran onto the field that night and the fans started cheering, Brooks started going crazy in my belly! I'll never forget all the strangers feeling my stomach and watching him kick around. Wow! That seems like forever ago!

Parenting 101

Ryan and I helped Brooks with his very first "homework" assignment tonight. Rae Rae had us trace, cut out, and decorate our hands to reflect ourselves. Brooks used his Lightning McQueen and Mater toys to make tire tracks on his handprint. He also added Georgia Bulldog stickers that we had left over from his first birthday. Ryan (no surprise here!) made a camoflauge hand since he so loves his hunting and fishing hobbies. He even drew his wedding band! Guess he's proud of being married to me after all :)! For my hand, I chose polka dots since I am slightly addicted to them. I also drew pics to show that I am a teacher, that I like to decorate our house, that I enjoy photography, and that I make cakes. They actually turned out pretty decent if I must say so myself!

I knew I did this for a reason...

My sweet, precious boy did the most amazing thing today. I knew I started this blog thing for a reason...I may not have documented this otherwise.

This morning, I woke up my two little sleepy heads (guess you've already figured out Brooks still sleeps in the bed with us) before going to work just as I do every morning...a little tickle time, the "Good Morning" song, and tons of kisses. Neither Brooks nor Ryan were getting up too easily so I gave them a few more minutes. Just before I had to leave to make it to work on time, I went back to make sure they were up. They still lay there snoozing so I gave my best second attempt at the tickle-song-kiss strategy. Successful! Brooks began giggling and saying "Rae Rae, Rae Rae" (his babysitter) because I was telling him he had to get ready to go see her and Ryan gave me the last minute details of the day. Okay...here comes the good part! I kissed Brooks on the forehead (if you know me then you probably know how important forehead kisses are to me) and whispered "See you this afternoon...I love you!" A little voice replied.....wait for it....."lov oo!" My precious boy told me he loved me for the very first time!!!!! I almost called in to work!!

And it begins...

It's really late for a working mom to still be awake, but thanks to my caffeine-laced diet pills, I am having a hard time sleeping. I'm still not sure why I decided to start this blog, other than restlessness, but hopefully it will serve to document all of the precious new things that Brooks does each day.

Oh, Brooks!! What a funny little guy!! If it weren't for him and his Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Thomas the Tank Engine counterparts, I might actually be peacefully sleeping in my bed right now. Unfortunately for me, Brooks decided to have a slumber party with Daddy and his ever present automobiles, which didn't leave much room in the bed for me to get cozy. So here I am typing away....

Is it possible for children to grow at super sonic speed? If so, I think Brooks definitely qualifies. Just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital and he tinkled on the sofa within the first five minutes of seeing his new home. Guess we could really blame Daddy for that one! Overnight though, he began walking and talking and tinkling on things intentionally just to make us laugh! Wait a minute...guess we can blame Daddy for that, too! God love them both!

Well, it is starting to feel like Shushebye (sp?) time...gotta love Baby First TV...so I'll wrap this up for now! Maybe I would've written more if it wouldn't have taken me so long to figure all this out. My brain is a little fried at the moment! I'll try to post pictures soon so stay tuned...I always wanted to say that!
